“Eric Shiner, Artistic Director NY for White Cube gallery, will speak about the globalization of the art market and the different considerations which go into running an international gallery. Topics under discussion will include: building a global business, primary vs. secondary sales, and the expanding role of technology in the art market. Galleries have a fundamental, yet evolving role to play in the art ecosystem; Eric will address both the structural role of galleries in this ecosystem, and the specific details around White Cube’s history and future ambitions.”

Eric Shiner
Eric Shiner serves as the Artistic Director, New York for White Cube and is responsible for the gallery’s artistic strategy in the US. Eric was previously Senior Vice President of Contemporary Art at Sotheby’s, and prior to this was the director of The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh from 2010 to 2016.
Eric is a leading scholar on Andy Warhol and Asian contemporary art, having worked in Japan for six years and serving as assistant curator to the inaugural Yokohama Triennale in 2001. Eric has curated dozens of global exhibitions, including Armory Focus – USA at the Armory Show in 2013.
