Ernesto de Sousa defined himself as a “specialist of general ideas”. This expression is relevant today regarding the approach of curating inspired by the inclusiveness and decoloniality of the imaginary. It points out his desire to enlarge the academic approach and the need to deconstruct the classical hierarchization of the arts and its history.
Lilou Vidal will address the centenary exhibition of the artist Ernesto de Sousa she is curating which will take place in two venues of Galerias Municipais de Lisboa, Galeria Quadrum and Galeria da Índia, from 13 de November 2021 to 27 February 2022. This exhibition is based on Ernesto de Sousa’s legacy as an artist, poet, curator and filmmaker, and it will explore his work and his archive through an intergenerational and transhistorical dialogic approach.
