Este seminário junta o Instituto de História da Arte da NOVA FCSH com o Department of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies, University College Cork para marcar os 100 anos da Semana de Arte Moderna de São Paulo. Propondo uma perspetiva ampla e problematizadora sobre o Modernismo a partir de diferentes contextos de língua portuguesa, Brasil, Moçambique e Portugal, este seminário conta com os contributos de Mariana Pinto dos Santos (IHA), Adele Nelson (University of Texas), e Ângela Ferreira (artista e professora universitária, Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa).

This seminar brings together the Institute of Art History and the Department of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies, University College Cork to reflect on the 100th anniversary of the Modern Art Week in Sao Paulo. It proposes an expanding and problematizing perspective on the concept of Modernism from Portuguese-language contexts such as Brazil, Mozambique and Portugal. The seminar will include three papers by Mariana Pinto dos Santos (Nova University of Lisbon), Adele Nelson (University of Texas), and Ângela Ferreira (Mozambican born, Portuguese-based visual artists and scholar).
