Biography
Begoña Farré Torras is an FCT-CEEC researcher at Instituto de História da Arte. Her research addresses mural painting theory and practice in the 20th century. Working from works produced in Portugal and Spain, between the turn of the 20th century and the 1970s, her research takes a transnational approach to the problem of the mural in modernism in Europe, while paying particular attention to the Iberian countries’ connections with Latin American muralism.
She leads the FCT-funded exploratory project Mural in Motion, Lime, Pigments, and Pixels – Bringing Modern Mural Heritage Back to Public Life (2023.11110.PEX 2024-2026) that critically explores the use of computational and digital tools for art historical curatorship.
Begoña is a member of the RIHA Journal Local Editorial Team for Portugal since 2014.
