The RIHA Journal is a peer-reviewed and open access e-journal published by the International Association of Research Institutes in the History of Art (RIHA). Devoted to the full range of the history of art and visual culture, the journal seeks to publish papers – be it on local, regional or transnational art histories – that are apt to animate the disciplines of art history and visual studies today and engage with important theoretical questions. As a collective endeavor, the RIHA Journal seeks to share materials and knowledge issued by scholars of all nationalities, and by doing so, to make a significant contribution to dissolving the boundaries between scholarly communities.
RIHA Journal operates through a decentralized structure made up by local editors at each RIHA member institute working in conjunction with a Managing Editor at Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte in Munich. The entire submission and peer review process is thus managed at local level, with final online posting of approved articles being done by the Managing Editor. This structure allows a close working relationship between authors and local editors throughout the submission and peer review process with a view to ensure the international relevance of local research subjects.
The local editorial team at Instituto de História da Arte (IHA) is composed by Joana Cunha Leal, Alexandra Curvelo and Begoña Farré Torras. Submissions for the consideration of this editorial team can be emailed to riha-journal@fcsh.unl.pt
