Biography
Beatriz Quintais Dantas holds a BA in Painting from Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa (2018). In 2021 she concluded her MA in Art History at Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, with the dissertation Tōkaidō gojūsan tsui – Uma Série Japonesa na Coleção do Museu Calouste Gulbenkian, concerning 19th century Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints.
From 2022 to 2024 she was awarded a fellowship from Fundação Oriente for a project to study and catalog the Japanese prints in the Museu do Oriente’s collection. Here, she was also curator of the exhibition Kabuki Theater and the Japanese Print: Tradition and Transition (Sept.-Dec. 2024) held at the same institution.
She is currently a Ph.D student in Art History (NOVA FCSH), with the theme O Colecionismo de Estampas e Livros Japoneses “Ukiyo-e” em Portugal, which aims to identify and characterize ukiyo-e collections in Portugal.

Beatriz Quintais Dantas é licenciada em Pintura pela Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa (2018). Em 2021 concluiu o Mestrado em História da Arte na Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, com a dissertação Tōkaidō gojūsan tsui – Uma Série Japonesa na Coleção do Museu Calouste Gulbenkian, dedicada ao tema da xilogravura japonesa ukiyo-e do século XIX.
Entre 2022 e 2024 foi bolseira da Fundação Oriente com um projeto de investigação e inventário das estampas japonesas do acervo do Museu do Oriente. Aqui, foi também comissária da exposição O Teatro Kabuki e a Estampa Japonesa: Tradição e Transição (Set.-Dez. 2024) patente nesta instituição.
Atualmente é aluna de Doutoramento em História da Arte (NOVA FCSH), com o tema O Colecionismo de Estampas e Livros Japoneses “Ukiyo-e” em Portugal, o qual propõem identificar e caracterizar as coleções de ukiyo-e em Portugal.
