Biography

Duarte’s research focuses on the areas of film, (art)history and memory politics; experimental cinema and essayistic documentary; image and writing; the ontology of photography and the operative role of visual archives in art and art history. His work has appeared in journals such as Photographies, Studies in Documentary Film, RIHA Journal, Philosophy of Photography, French Screen Studies; Quarterly Review of Film and Video, and [in]Transition: Journal of Videographic Film and Moving Image Studies. Duarte also develops practice-led research on the fields of his research. He is the author of the book Imagem de Arquivo e Tempo Mnemotécnico/Archival Image and Mnemotechnical Time, Covilhã: LabCom.IFP Books, 2018.
