Biography
Daniela Viggiani is an Italian art historian who has an extensive record of research collaboration with international academic and museum partners.
During her doctoral research, undertaken at Université de Montréal, she studied the notes on the art of Portugal written by the connoisseur Pietro Guarienti in his personal, updated edition of the Abecedario Pittorico (Venice, 1753), containing the first ever collection of Portuguese artists’ biographies.
Her main research interests are art literature, in the Italian and Portuguese contexts (16th-19th century), and art collecting in Portugal in the 18th century.
She is currently (2019) a research fellow at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, conducting research into collectors of paintings in Lisbon in the first half of the 18th century.
