Biography
PhD student in Artistic Studies at FCSH, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa. His current theme investigation is within the area of narrativity and choreology in contemporary narrative ballets. Other works are focused on the articulation between dance theory and dance practice that can be reflected on new projects in the field of the performing arts. Studied at Th Contemporary Dance Academy and joined The National Ballet of Portugal (CNB) as Principal Dancer (1996-2011) and The Norwegian National Ballet as Soloist (2005-2007). Became Head Ballet Master in CNB (2013-2017) and as a choreographer he created four new versions of the great classics of the 19th and 20th centuries. He is currently the co-Artistic Director of Dança em Diálogos where he has developed new concepts of framing contemporary ways of creating narrative ballets, namely the première of ‘O Primo Basílio’, a two acts ballet based on the famous novel of Eça de Queirós.
