Biography
Francesca holds a PhD in Art History from FCSH, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa. In 2022, she was a visiting doctoral researcher at EHESS–CNRS in Paris, collaborating with the research group China, Korea, Japan. In addition to her academic work, Francesca is deeply engaged in theoretical and methodological explorations within global history. Her research focuses on the circulation of artists within the French Jesuit mission in China during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, shedding light on the cultural exchanges and artistic interactions of that period. She is particularly interested in transoceanic artistic circulations in the early modern world, as well as in the study of entangled devotional practices, Jesuit sacred materialities, and cross-cultural encounters across early modern Eurasia.

Francesca é doutora em História da Arte pela FCSH, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa. Em 2022, foi investigadora visitante de doutoramento na EHESS–CNRS em Paris, onde colaborou com o grupo de investigação China, Korea, Japan. Para além do seu trabalho académico, Francesca dedica-se intensamente à exploração teórica e metodológica no âmbito da história global. A sua investigação centra-se na circulação de artistas no âmbito da missão jesuíta francesa na China durante os séculos XVII e XVIII, lançando luz sobre as trocas culturais e interações artísticas desse período. Mostra particular interesse nas circulações artísticas transoceânicas nos séculos XVI-XVIII, assim como no estudo de práticas devocionais entrelaçadas, das materialidades sagradas jesuíticas e dos encontros interculturais na Eurásia.
