Biography
Maria Duran Marques is an artist and PhD student at the NOVA FCSH – Art History department.
She has a Master’s Degree in History and Patrimony from the College of Letters of the University of Lisbon (Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa), with the dissertation “The Collectioner’s House – Palace of Necessidades and Prince Ferdinand II’s art pieces: Exhibition and Fruition”.
She holds a Graduate Degree in Art Curatorship from NOVA FCSH, and was one of the curators of its final exhibition. She was a writer and collaborator researcher in the archival project ‘It is an ocean, not a puddle from which you drink once’. She participated in the conference Gothic (Revival) Spaces, with the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg.
Her artistic work focuses on the plasticity of language as an historical part of visual culture. She is a published author with Editora Urutau, and in various international anthologies.
