Biography
Michela Degortes is an architect (University of Florence) and a PhD in Art History (University of Lisbon). She is an integrated researcher – Pos Doctoral Fellow at the Art History Institute, School of Social Sciences and Humanities, NOVA University of Lisbon (IHA-NOVA FCSH).
She was doctoral fellow at Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (2015-2016) and at FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (2017-2021). Her doctoral thesis, Giovanni Gherardo De Rossi (1754-1827) na direção da Academia Portuguesa de Belas Artes em Roma: ensino e mercado da arte, has been awarded with the Prémio APHA Millennium José-Augusto França and recently published by APHA in Open Access (2023).
Her main research interests address the mobility of artists and artworks, cultural transfer, cultural diplomacy, history of collecting and art market (18th – 19th Centuries) as well as topics related with the reuse, preservation, and restoration of cultural heritage.
