Biography

Sílvia Ferreira holds a PhD in Art History (University of Lisbon) with a thesis on: The baroque woodcarving in Lisbon (1670-1720). The artists and their works (2009). She was post-doctoral researcher at the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. Currently she is contract researcher at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the NOVA University of Lisbon. Is member of the Institute of Art History (IHA) Board and the forma coordinator of the Pre-Modern Visual and Material Cultures research group.  She is part of the editorial board of the Art History Journal (RHA) and of the Associated Laboratory IN2PAST. 

Sílvia Ferreira participates and promotes assiduously congresses and other meetings of a scientific nature, in Portugal and abroad, which have resulted in books, several articles in journals and book chapters.

Doutora em História na especialidade de Arte, Património e Restauro pela Faculdade de Letras de Lisboa, com dissertação dedicada ao tema: A Talha Barroca de Lisboa (1670-1720). Os artistas e as obras (2009).

Foi investigadora de pós-doutoramento da Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia e, atualmente, é investigadora contratada (Norma Transitória, DL 57/2016 – Lei 57/2017) da NOVA FCSH, onde desenvolve projeto de investigação dedicado ao tema: “O legado de Robert Chester Smith: novas perspetivas para a História da Arte, em Portugal”. É membro do Instituto de História da Arte da NOVA FCSH, onde coordenou o Grupo de Investigação Pre-Modern Visual and Material Cultures, e é membro do conselho editorial da Revista de História da Arte (RHA) e do Laboratório Associado IN2PAST.

Participa e promove assiduamente congressos e outros encontros de carácter científico, promovidos no país e no estrangeiro, dos quais têm resultado livros, vários artigos em revistas e capítulos de livros.
