Biography
Sofia Caetano graduated in Museology and Museography MA (2016) and in Sculpture BA (2011), from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. She operates in the field of Spatial Practices, placing the exhibition space at the center of the dialogue between artistic and museological practice.
In the last years, she has developed her professional career, especially as a cultural and audiovisual producer, collaborating with various entities, such as cultural associations, galleries and artists. At the same time, she has continued her artistic practice over the years.
As a PhD candidate in Art History at NOVA FCSH (2023-), she is developing research with the title, “Intervir no Agora – Intervenções Artísticas de Compromisso Social e Político no Espaço Expositivo”, seeking to understand the importance of the exhibition space, not strictly museological, in artistic interventions that work with demands of the ‘Now’ and who assume social and political commitment, in defense of global and current causes.

Sofia Caetano formada em Museologia e Museografia (2016) e em Escultura (2011), pela Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa. Atua no campo das Spatial Practices, colocando o espaço expositivo no centro do diálogo entre a prática artística e museológica.
Nos últimos anos tem desenvolvido o seu percurso profissional, sobretudo enquanto produtora cultural e audiovisual, colaborando com diversas entidades, como associações culturais, galerias e artistas. Paralelamente, ao longo dos anos, tem vindo a dar continuidade à prática artística.
Doutoranda em História da Arte na NOVA FCSH (2023-), encontra-se a desenvolver investigação com o título, “Intervir no Agora – Intervenções Artísticas de Compromisso Social e Político no Espaço Expositivo”, procurando perceber qual a importância do espaço expositivo, não estritamente museológico, nas intervenções artísticas que atuam com reivindicações do Agora e que assumem um compromisso social e político, na defesa de causas globais e atuais.
