Biography

Sónia Moura is an architect (ULP), holds a master’s degree in Art Studies – Museum and Curatorial Studies (FBAUP) and a PhD in Art History (NOVA FCSH) with the theme “Synthesis of the Arts – Thought and Practice in Portugal (1944-1979)” under the scientific supervision of Lúcia Almeida Matos and Raquel Henriques da Silva.

She is currently part of the team of the exploratory project “Mural in Motion: Lime, Pigments, and Pixels – Towards the Reintegration of Modern Mural Heritage into Public Life: A Critical Approach to Digital Curation for Art History” (2023.11110. PEX 2024-2026), which proposes a critical and multidisciplinary approach to the use of digital tools in art history curating, taking as an example the set of seven murals produced between 1944 and 1960 by Dordio Gomes (1890-1976) in the city of Porto.

Her research interests in historiography and criticism of Art and Architecture, Museology, and Curatorship focuses on the documentation, production, exhibition, and reception of modern art and architecture, as well as the study of artistic groups and circuits. She has been disseminating these themes through the publication of articles and book chapters, participation in conferences and round tables, and participation as curator and/or researcher in several exhibitions.

Sónia Moura é arquitecta (ULP), mestre em Estudos Artísticos – Estudos Museológicos e Curadoriais (FBAUP) e doutorada em História da Arte (NOVA FCSH) com o tema “Síntese das Artes – Pensamento e Pratica em Portugal (1944-1979)” sob supervisão científica de Lúcia Almeida Matos e Raquel Henriques da Silva.

Actualmente integra a equipa do projeto exploratório “Mural in Motion: Cal, Pigmentos e Píxeis – Para a Reintegração do Património Mural Moderno na Vida Pública: uma Abordagem Crítica à Curadoria Digital para a História da Arte” (2023.11110.PEX 2024-2026), que propõe uma aproximação crítica e multidisciplinar ao uso de ferramentas digitais na curadoria em História da Arte, tomando como exemplo o conjunto de sete murais produzidos entre 1944 e 1960 por Dordio Gomes (1890-1976) na cidade do Porto.

Os seus interesses de investigação em historiografia e crítica da Arte e da Arquitectura, da Museologia e Curadoria observam a documentação, produção, exposição e recepção da arte e arquitectura modernas assim como o estudo de grupos e circuitos artísticos. Tem vindo a divulgar estes temas pela publicação de artigos e capítulos de livros, pela participação em conferências e mesas redondas, e pela participação enquanto curadora e/ou investigadora em várias exposições.
