Biography
(Lisbon, 1963) Graduated in Philosophy (FLUL), Master and PhD in Contemporary Art History (NOVA/FCSH), respectively with the dissertation ‘History of Public Art Museums in 19th Century Portugal: 1833-1884’ (2001) and with the thesis ‘Lisboa em Festa: A Retrospective Exhibition of Portuguese and Spanish Ornamental Art, 1882, Antecedents and Materialisation’ (2010).
Art historian, lecturer, curator, art educator, fiction author with several published and awarded novels and volumes of short stories.
From December 1st 2017 and 28th February 2025, she directed the National Museum of Contemporary Art and the Dr Anastácio Gonçalves House-Museum. In that capacity, she was also a member of the BAC Advisory Board.
Representative of the European Museum Academy (EMA) in Portugal.
Integrated researcher at IHA NOVA FCSH / IN2PAST and researcher associated with the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council project (University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada), and CIEG/ISCSP-ULisboa.

Historiadora de Arte, Conferencista, Curadora, Educadora pela Arte, Autora de Ficção com vários romances e volumes de contos publicados e premiados.
Entre 1 de Dezembro de 2017 e 28 de Fevereiro de 2025, dirigiu o Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea e a Casa-Museu Dr. Anastácio Gonçalves. Nessa condição, foi também membro do Conselho Consultivo BAC.
Representante da European Museum Academy (EMA) em Portugal.
