Biography
Miguel Ángel Nieto Márquez is a Teacher of Primary Education and a graduate in Art History from the University of Córdoba. Later he studied the University Master’s Degree in Andalusian Historical Heritage and its Ibero-American Projection at the University of Seville, where he is currently doing his PhD studies and works as a professor. He has studied Andalusian architecture from the second half of the 18th century, specifically the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament of the Parroquia de San Miguel, in Córdoba. This chapel was the subject of his Master’s Final Project, which obtained the highest qualification and was awarded by the Spanish Committee for the History of Art (CEHA). Currently, his studies are focused on the work of Spanish military engineers in the Gulf of Mexico during the second half of the 18th century. This is the subject of his current doctoral thesis, framed in the R&D Research Project “Arquitecturas del Poder en el Caribe y en el Sudeste Asiático. 1729-1764”, directed by Alfredo J. Morales and Pedro Luengo in the University of Sevilla. Miguel Ángel has several publications, including his Master’s Thesis, which was edited by the Spanish Committee for Art History (CEHA), as well as various journal articles and book chapters. Likewise, he has participated in several national and international congresses
